The Waste Management arm of the Potter Group offers a service processing waste which cannot be recycled into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) for the export market.

Waste from Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, that cannot be recycled, is processed into Refuse Derived Fuel and exported to Sweden, where it is used in high efficiency power stations to produce both electricity and heat for local households.

Waste collected by the two counties is first processed at sites at Pembroke Port and in Lampeter to remove certain recyclable materials. It is then shredded, baled and wrapped at Pembroke Port to create a Refuse Derived Fuel which can be shipped overseas.

The use of combined heat and power technology in Sweden enables far more energy to be extracted from the waste compared with most UK incinerators, making it both a green and economical solution.
